HB Architects were delighted to be awarded the project after being invited to submit a competition entry for the Wolverhampton Youth Zone.
The project forms part of the OnSide network of youth zones, providing young people aged between 8-19 years with a purpose built facility to enjoy in a safe environment, while raising their aspirations and confidence.
The complex is located on a high profile triangular site in Wolverhampton town centre. The design of the facility responds positively to the shape of the site by creating unique spaces.
In keeping with the OnSide model, internally the design features; an exciting open plan recreation area at the heart of the facility, surrounded by high spec activity spaces, including; a music room, climbing wall, multi-use sports hall, fitness suite, martial arts suite, performing arts studio, inclusion room, girls room, training room and mentoring kitchen. Externally, young people are provided with a 3G kick pitch and relaxation area. All in a secure environment.
